Advanced Design Procedure for Lateral Actions
Optimised Engineering Solutions is currently undertaking a three year research tripartite research project with Swinburne University and LTE Structures to develop the next generation development of precast building core system and an advanced design procedure for lateral actions. The next generation building core system is the ‘post tensioned precast cube system’ (PTPCS), which was envisaged by LTE Structures QLD Pty Ltd (LTE) with support from Optimised Engineering Solutions Pty Ltd (OES). The PTPCS is a revolutionary concept that will fundamentally change the construction methodology of reinforced concrete (RC) building cores, which provide the lateral stability to multi-storey buildings, in buildings ranging from 4 to 15 storeys.
With additional support and funding from SmartCrete CRC, the total investment in this project reaches $1 million. This funding covers comprehensive full-scale destructive testing and supports full-time PhD study. SmartCrete is an independent, for-impact Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) that empowers innovation collaborations to transition concrete for a sustainable Australia, this research project with extend the global understanding and knowledge base to inform emerging construction methodologies and standards, this research project is poised to make significant contributions. Working with manufacturers, architects, engineers, developers, asset owners and government, SmartCrete invests $21m of Commonwealth funding in university-delivered R&D projects that spur sustainable design, use and management of concrete.
