Andreas Gustafson | Director

MIEAust CPEng NER APEC Engineer IntPE(Aus) RPEQ

Director and Senior Structural Engineer, with 20+ years Structural Engineering experience. His expertise includes earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, non-linear analysis, tall building design, and the design and documentation of precast structures.

Andreas is particularly skilled in utilising the latest Engineering Design computer software, with a special focus on pioneering seismic engineering techniques for Australia and sophisticated analysis/modelling of high-rise buildings. Andreas is currently engaged in a joint research project with Swinburne University to conduct large-scale testing of RC cores to advance global structural analysis and inform codes of practice. This research will guide the development of next generation precast concrete building cores and advance design procedures for lateral analysis.

Andreas has a specific interest in advancing framing systems for structures that are informed and guided by full scale field and controlled laboratory testing. Over the last 15 years Andreas has undertaken full scale building monitoring, both in Australia and overseas, and progressed finite element modeling techniques that capture as tested structural behavior. Andreas has been instrumental in developing more sophisticated design and modeling methodologies that not only improve material and cost efficiencies but also significantly mitigate risks inherent in traditional construction practices.

He has published several papers on framing systems for super-tall buildings, RC sway frame structures in Australia, and methods of precast construction in numerous international journals. As an active member of the Australian Earthquake Engineering Society, Andreas continues to share his knowledge and expertise, dedicating himself to the education and mentorship of the next generation of engineers.

His innovative approach, unique perspective of structural engineering, and commitment to excellence have positioned him as a leader in the field of structural engineering.
